What is Indian Head Massage?

Indian Head Massage (IHM) has been practiced in India for over one thousand years. It was originally used to keep long hair healthy and in beautiful condition. It involves relaxing movements to the upper back, shoulders, arms, neck, head and face to relieve the stress and tension of everyday life.

IHM helps to restore joint mobility and to stretch and mobilise neck and shoulders. It stimulates lymphatic drainage, helping to remove toxins and helps to eliminate muscular tension. IHM stimulates the circulation, helping to distribute oxygen and nutrients to all the tissues. It relaxes the scalp and helps to tone up the subcutaneous muscles, thus helping to relieve headaches and eyestrain.

It stimulates and improves hair quality and growth and tones the facial muscles. It has a soothing effect on the nerve endings and induces a feeling of wellbeing and peace.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a safe and natural, non-intrusive, hands-on energy therapy that promotes and utilises the body’s own healing abilities. It is an ancient healing method that was rediscovered by Mikao Usui, a Japanese Doctor, in the 1920’s and passed down through personal teachings.

Reiki can be used independently for health and energy problems, or combined with Aromatherapy to promote physical, emotional and spiritual stability.

What is Swedish Massage?

This style utilizes long, flowing strokes, often but not necessarily in the direction of the heart. Swedish massage is designed to increase circulation and blood flow. There are six basic strokes: effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement, compression and vibration. Oil, cream, or lotion is applied on the skin to reduce friction and allow smooth strokes.

What is Fitness Testing?

Fitness Testing is designed to determine your current level of fitness and provide a baseline against which improvement can be measured. This can often be carried out as part of your free consultation.

What is Sports Massage?

The Pre-event Sports Massage is designed to prepare the body for an event such as a marathon, football match or physically demanding sporting event. The Post-event Massage should take place as soon after the event as possible. It is designed to aid detoxification which helps to reduce muscular aches and pains, to sooth tired muscles and to treat minor injuries.
